Fun With Felt Ornaments by Mandybb7
Last Christmas, things changed in the Adventures of a Millennium Mom household...I had to decorate the house with baby British in mind! At the time, he was crawling and slowly learning to walk. So, I couldn't put up my usual fragile decorations. I soon realized, upon hearing the sound of crunching glass, that my pink and lavender Victorian themed ornaments were out of the question. So, I set out to completely rethink my Christmas decor in a more kid-friendly way. I ended up going with a bright green and red Santa theme for the tree and mantel decorations. I also tried to decorate the tree with felt ornaments and fabric covered balls that little hands could not destroy. However, I had trouble finding cute felt ornaments and found that I would have to purchase more this year in order to fill out the tree.
Some of my felt ornament finds are pictured above.
Clockwise from the top: Christmas Tea Pots Ornaments Felt Applique Kit (Set of 8) (keep in mind you have to actually make these with the materials in the kit) from Overstock.com $18.04, Mary Engelbreit Santa Ornaments Felt Applique Kit (again, you have to make these) from overstock.com $16.14, Felt Nutcracker Ornaments from Pottery Barn Kids $32.00, Felt Reindeer Ornaments from Pottery Barn Kids $69.00, and Felt Ornaments from Garnet Hill $28.00.

Very cute!! I love the ones pictured on the mantel garland!!
We have tried to make alot of ours, too, out of felt and fabric, etc. I say we, but I really mean ME! LOL The boys have no interest in making ornaments w/ Mom! Well, Jonah might, but not for the reasons I'd hope for - he'd just want to cart everything off and make a mess of the house!! =S
Great idea,, Mandy! Those ornaments are beautiful!
I love Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn kids! I try to keep the Christmas tree free of too much breakable ornaments...so the whole felt idea is one I might entertain this year. (three kids later. LOL!)
I totally relate to decorating a tree with little ones around. For years our trees only had ornaments from the middle up!
I love Mary Englebreit. I'm going to go check those out!
Isn't felt great? It's so versatile! Love the ornies.
